Paws 4 Progress Mission:
Our mission will be to help relieve suffering caused by neglect and abuse. Additionally we aggressively prevent the cruelty to these breeds of dogs, by working jointly with shelters, other rescues and researching the areas in our county for emaciated, mistreated animals. Our goal in whole is to educate the public on the misconceptions and myths of these beautiful breeds and help reduce the number of homeless canines, which would likely end up in a shelter and eventually euthanized if not immediately subject to death just because their biggest crime has been simply being born a pit, rottie, chow, black dog, etc.
Our rescue will facilitate the rescue and placement of homeless dogs of any breed in need into responsible and loving forever homes however, our rescue does primarily focus on pit bulls, bulldogs, rottie, chows and any mix of these breeds as well as any black dog breed since they have been titled at most shelters as being "unadoptable" due to their color.
In the interim of adoption, our rescue dogs will seek veterinary treatment (vaccinations, rabies, worming and any other necessary treatment to ensure strong and healthy animals). Spay and neutering is a necessity to regulate the already overpopulated USA and beyond, so this is not an option. All animals will be spayed and neutered prior to adoption unless otherwise agreed upon between the potential adopter and the rescue agency. Food, shelter and other basic necessities will be provided on a daily basis to every dog housed either on the property of the rescue or any foster that is affiliated with the rescue.
Each animal that enters into the rescue goes through an initial evaualtion of basic temperment. If issues are evident during the process of this evaluation, those issues and concerns are noted and then a plan is created to work daily with the particular animal until those obstacles have been overcome and can be controlled. Our rescue will never adopt out an animal that is dangerous! Our rescue does not fluff ads to move dogs quickly, in fact, per contract, we require that if a dog does not work out for whatever reason (loss of job, moving, etc.) the dog will be surrendered back to Paws 4 Progress for a new placement. A dog that does come back to our rescue is retested and evaluated to ensure the dog is coming back the same dog as how it was when it was adopted out.
Basic Obedience and Socialization lessons are provided for all rescues at our facility. Paws 4 Progress strongly encourages each new owner to continue training sessions with their new pet either directly through the rescue or through another reputable, responsible dog trainer.
Paws 4 Progress will never treat an animal in a cruel or inhumane fashion. Any volunteer that is found to handle our animals inappropriately will immediately be removed from the premises and not allowed to work with Paws 4 Progress again.
Each potential adopter is throroughly screened prior to approval of adopting a rescue animal from our establishment. A legally binding contract must be signed by the adopter to finalize the adoption process of their new pet. If the terms of the contract are breached in any way, the dog must be surrendered back to the rescue. This is clearly stated during the interview process and again in the context of the contract.
Paws 4 Progress is against any form of dog fighting, baiting or trunking. If a potential adopter has ever been cited for any of these offenses or has been charged with the abuse and/or neglect of an animal their applications will not be considered and will be immediately denied.
Within the terms of the contract, it is also explained that if the animal that has been adopted is ever used in any type of criminal misconduct such as the terms noted above, the dog will be repossessed and the appropriate authorities will be notified to ensue the further execution of criminal prosecution.
Here are just a handful of our rescues: Over 60 dogs and even a litter of 2 week old kittens have been rescued and given a chance at life (as of April 2009). Support this rescue in order to help the cycle of life continue. Also, if you are a pet owner, the most important thing you can do to help the overpopulation of animals is to spay or neuter! The benefits are not just helping the population, but also lower later in life health risks for your pet!!!!

We do appreciate a daily care donation from surrendering families in order for us to treat any possible issues with the dog, vaccinate if needed, worming, etc.

ANGEL IS A 3 MONTH OLD AUSSIE MIX. SHE IS VERY ENERGECTIC AND LOVES TO BE ON THE GO GO GO! SHE IS VERY GOOD WITH CHILDREN, OTHER DOGS, CATS AND ADULTS. SHE IS VERY SUBMISSIVE WITH OTHER DOGS. SHE IS HOUSE AND CRATE TRAINED. SHE HAS HAD 2 VACCINATIONS AND 2 WORMINGS. SHE WILL HAVE HER THIRD VACCINE AT THE END OF THE MONTH AND WILL RECEIVE HER RABIES AFTER SHE IS 4 MONTHS OLD.
11 WEEK OLD LAB MIX LITTER. THESE LITTLE BABIES HAVE BEAT THE ODDS WHEN WE RESCUED THEM AT 3 WEEKS OLD. THEY WERE LEFT OUT TO FEND FOR THEMSELVES AND IT IS A MIRACLE THEY HAVE MADE IT! BECAUSE OF THE ROUGH START, WE VACCINATED THEM EARLIER THAN WE NORMALLY DO, SO THEY HAVE HAD 3 PUPPY VACCINATIONS TO DATE AND 4 WORMING TREATMENTS. THERE ARE 5 FEMALES AND I MALE LEFT FOR ADOPTION. THEY ARE VERY SOCIAL LITTLE ONES. WE HAVE SOCIALIZED RIGHT FROM DAY ONE WITH KIDS, CATS, OTHER DOGS, AND ADULTS, SO THEY LOVE EVERYBODY. PAPER TRAINED FOR THE MOST PART, BUT STILL HAVE THE OCCAISIONAL OPPS, ESPECIALLY WHEN EXCITED :) THE MALE IS THE LAST PHOTO, ALL THE REST ARE FEMALE...
ELECTRA-HUSKY/PIT MIX! 1 YEAR OLD FEMALE. SHE HAS BEEN WORMED AND HAS RECEIVED HER VACCINATION SHOT. SHE IS VERY SWEET. LOVES OTHER DOGS, CHILDREN AND ADULTS. SHE DOES NOT ROAM. SHE IS STUNNING. DUKE IS A 2 YEAR OLD MALE SHARPEI MIX. HE IS FULLY VETTED AND JUST HAD HIS RABIES AND OTHER VACCINATIONS IN JUNE. HE HAS BEEN A STRICTLY OUTDOOR DOG UP UNTIL THIS POINT, BUT HE HAS PICKED UP HOUSETRAINING EFFORTLESSLY. HE IS GREAT WITH KIDS, OTHER DOGS AND ALL ADULTS. HE IS ALSO GOOD WITH CATS, BUT IF A CAT RUNS HE WILL CHASE IT, BUT HE IS NOT A THREAT TO A CAT! HE JUST LOST HIS BEST FRIEND RECENTLY AND HAS BEEN MOURNING THE LOSS OF HIS CANINE BUDDY, SO WE WOULD IDEALLY LIKE HIM TO FIND A HOME THAT HAS ANOTHER DOG!
TRINITY IS A SWEET AS CAN BE AUSSIE/CATAHOULA MIX. SHE IS APPROXIMATELY 3-4 MONTHS OLD AND IS THE LAST OF THE LITTER WAITING FOR ADOPTION. SHE HAS HAD FULL WORMING TREATMENTS AND HAS BEEN FULLY VACCINATED. SHE WILL RECEIVE HER RABIES VACCINE IN 2-3 WEEKS. TRINITY LOVES WATER, LOVES CHILDREN, OTHER DOGS, CATS, AND ALL ADULTS! LIL BIT-FULL PIT (BLIND IN ONE EYE-CATARACT)- MUST GO TO A HOME THAT HAS NO OTHER ANIMALS. SHE IS VERY FRIENDLY WITH ADULTS AND LOVES CHILDREN BUT DUE TO HER DISABILITY, I WILL NOT ADOPT HER OUT TO A HOME WITH SMALL CHILDREN. SHE IS APPROXIMATELY 6-8 YEARS OLD.
EMBER SKYE- BRINDLE/LAB MIX & ROMEO- BOTH OF THESE DOGS WERE RAISED TOGETHER FROM AROUND 4 WEEKS OF AGE. THEY HAVE BEEN HOUSETRAINED, CRATE TRAINED AND ARE WELL SOCIALIZED. GREAT WITH KIDS, ADULTS, CATS AND DOGS. EMBER IS APPROXIMATELY 8 MONTHS OLD NOW. SHE WILL BE A MEDIUM LARGE SIZE AT FULL GROWTH AS WILL ROMEO.
BABE- BLONDE SHEPHERD MIX- 11 MONTHS OLD, UTD ON VACCINATIONS (EXCEPT RABIES), SPAYED. VERY WELL BEHAVED LITTLE LADY, VERY GOOD WITH OTHER DOGS NOW AND GREAT WITH PEOPLE. SHE WAS EXTREMELY FOOD AGGRESSIVE TOWARD OTHER DOGS INITIALLY BUT WE HAVE WORKED ON THIS ISSUE AND SHE HAS PROGRESSED TREMENDOUSLY AND SHE HAS NOT DISPLAYED ANY AGGRESSION IN WEEKS. SHE HAS EVEN SHARED OUT OF THE SAME BOWL!!!
